Hello world!
From my home near Pittsburgh, I enjoy visiting West Virginia. I frequently enjoy cycling, hiking and weekending in the wonderful wilderness the state has to offer. This week, I captured these photos in New River Gorge National Park and Preserve along Route 19. What was intended to be a quick rest stop on a road trip, turned out to be a quick hike to a scenic view of one of the most photographed places in West Virginia and the longest single-span arch bridge outside China. Shown on the left, the New River rapids running along the longest and deepest gorge in the Appalachian Mountains are also an impressive sight to behold.

Given how close it is to Pittsburgh, I can confirm that West Virginia really is almost heaven.
๐ My Favorite Stuff from the Internet This Week

- Dear allies of America, please donโt confuse our president with us | Robert Reich | The Guardian
- The year of four million books - SHuSH, by Kenneth Whyte

๐งฐ Tools
I spent a lot of time exploring available tools and refining my ereading workflow again this week. The coolest stuff I found along the way:
- calibrain/shelfmark
- This is an ebook finder tool thatโs promising but Iโm not sure itโs worth the upkeep just yet.
- qarmin/czkawka: Multi functional app to find duplicates, empty folders, similar images etc.
- This is in maintenance-mode but itโs excellent: I only wish I knew about it sooner.
- epubname from dinofp/epub-tools: Command line utilities for working with epub files
- I like
epubnamein particular from this suite of tools that are designed to do a few specific things well.
- I like
- webysther/foss_book_libraries: ๐ Free and Open Source Book Libraries Features Compared
I spent more time than expected on my ereading workflow in part because I had to get a new e-reader this week. I wrote a little more about why on Mastodon.

๐ง Music
๐ 1001 Albums
Iโm continuing to work my way through the 1001 albums list. The album selected for me to listen to Monday was excellent โ the first five โญ album of the experiment. I was starting to lose interest in continuing with all of the albums since there were so few hits but I enjoyed the introduction to Jeff Buckleyโs Grace enough that this has already been worth it and Iโll continue.
๐ Music Stats
Total tracks played: 277 Unique tracks: 215 | Unique albums: 146 | Unique artists: 82

Top Artists
- Carter Burwell (54 plays)
- Jeff Buckley (24 plays)
- Luke Combs (22 plays)
Luke Combs first hit my radar with Where the Wild Things Are. I gave his new album a listen this week and I like it a bit more than expected. Thereโs some silly corny country but there are far more songs that I marked to listen to again. I would not recommend the album in its entirety but there are 3-5 strong songs from among the albumโs 22 tracks. I wrote a bit more on record.club.
๐ BTS released their new album this week, too! I am beyond excited that they are really back.
Top Albums
- Carter Burwell - True Grit (Soundtrack from the Motion Picture) (54 plays)
- Luke Combs - The Way I Am (22 plays)
- Jeff Buckley - Grace (18 plays)
Yes, I did listen to the soundtrack while reading!
